Friday Nights with Jamie John
Thinking about it, I guess it started with a bad back...
I began practising Yoga in 2011 after being encouraged by my friend and Chiropractor. He was yet again crunching his way through tight and spasming muscles and said to me “you really should try Yoga”. I loved fitness and the gym and those hobbies coupled with my day job and my party social life- I found I was always uncomfortable or in pain.
I attended classes a couple of times a week and began to make lifestyle changes alongside my practice. I soon noticed a sense of calm, physical flexibility and a positive impact on my relationships with myself and others. The aches and pains disappeared early on, but by 2014 I had found the magic of Yoga and flew out to the Ashram to take my first 200 hour Yoga teacher training.
Yoga is part of my daily lifestyle, alongside my love of nature and travel. I have been teaching classes, workshops and retreats without pause for over a decade, each year advancing my training with different lineages from around the world. By 2023 having amassed thousands of hours of teaching and thousands of students on the mat, I decided the time was right to begin my formal training as a Yoga Therapist.
I am nowhere near perfect and there are days when I can’t even be considered flexible, but I have a gift for sharing Yoga in a fun and approachable way with anyone willing to be a student. It is my love, my passion and my life’s work! Yoga is a path of discovery and I am committed to helping individuals to heal and increase flexibility, to regulate emotions and improve their lives with the power of physical Asana, therapy and mindful meditation.
I truly believe that everybody can benefit from yoga. With practice we can all build a strong and beautiful mind, body and spirit.
