What is reiki?

Reiki is a universal energy, when we talk about reiki we are usually talking about the practice of energy healing by a reiki practitioner.

The word "reiki" comes from two Japanese words: "rei" meaning universal, and "ki" meaning life energy. The practice involves channeling reiki energy from the practitioner's hands to the recipient's body to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and improve overall wellbeing.

In a traditional reiki treatment, the recipient may sit or lie down while the practicitioner works either intuitively or along specific energy centres on the body.

What are the benefits of reiki?

Reiki is a gentle healing modality that compliments other therapies without interfering with them. It's suitable for everyone, regardless of age, gender or religion. Like yoga it is a spiritual practice but not a religious one.

It can promote a deep state of relaxation and has proven to be particularly beneficial for:

● Balancing emotions

● Reducing stress and anxiety

● Promoting deep rest and relaxation

● Improving sleep and reducing insomnia

● Managing chronic pain

Energetically it can help:

● Balance energy centers

● Release trapped energy and emotions

● Promote healing

● Feel more connected to intuition

● Deepned spiritual connection

Whatever your reasons for seeking reiki, it can be a wonderful, gentle healing energy to experience.

Reiki-infused yoga

Michelle will be joining us for a reiki-infused yoga workshop here at New Energy Yoga on Sunday 11th June where she will be offering her unique blend of hands on reiki with restorative yin yoga.

Come and join her to learn more about reiki and experience the benefit for yourself.

What to expect in a reiki-infused yoga class

Our reiki master, Michelle will guide you through a gentle yin yoga practice with plenty of props to support the body, Whilst you settle into the restorative poses, you will have the option of hands on reiki healing to increase the energy flow and healing from the yoga poses.

As the practitioner channels energy, the recipient may feel a sense of warmth, tingling, see colours, shapes or feel a deep sense of peace and relaxation. The combination of yin yoga and reiki can help release stored emotions and tension and is a powerful tool for self inquiry and healing.
