Jo Hogarty
Yoga Teacher

Encouraged by my Mother I started Yoga at the age of 7 and have been practicing ever since. Coming from the Lake District, it's hardly surprising that I loved the outdoors and focused on Outdoor Education and Environmental Science, however shortly after finishing my degree I suffered a brain hemorrhage. I was told by my Neurologist that the fact that I practiced yoga and meditation probably helped to save my life.

In the years to follow, yoga played a very important part in my recovery and I immersed myself in the practice and study of Yoga. I completed my yoga teacher training in the UK and shortly after qualifying I went to India where I spent many years furthering my knowledge and experience of yoga, which included following a Spiritual discipline as a Brahmacharini (nun) and teaching yoga in an Ayurvedic hospital.

I have been teaching for over 20 years, I am very passionate about it and I believe there are many benefits for those who practice yoga. I want everyone, whatever level, to benefit from my Yoga Classes, many come to help with physical and emotional injuries, most come to improve flexibility and strength and some have been inspired to go on to become yoga teachers themselves.

I bring the benefit of all this experience to my classes, tailoring them to individual abilities, with hands on correction of poses and, most importantly, I believe Yoga should be fun!!
